OSMOND – Just in time for Thanksgiving, Osmond Community School third grade students wrote paragraphs telling what they are thankful for. They are shared here, exactly as written. ––––– I am thankful for. . . . My family and friends! I’m thankful for coats, hats, and gloves that keep me warm! I’m glad I have a young puppy! and a young kitten! I’m thankful for a car to ride in, to get me places my family needs to go! Finley Brummels My favorite thing is candy and it is good to eat. Filling the pantry. . .
Last Thursday, the Osmond Community Food Pantry received nearly 1,300 non-perishable food items from St. Mary’s Catholic School students and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Along with recent donations from Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster and several local community members, the pantry is stocked very well for the holidays and the coming year. Thrivent also provided a cash grant to the pantry matching Immanuel’s generous food donations, so it can provide perishable items for local residents’ holiday meals. They just need to ask about this help when they go to visit. The pantry is open most Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and by calling Charlotte Kiichler at (402) 748-3474, Luella Hodson at (402) 750-4156, or Barb Reineke at (402) 748-3612. Residents in need are asked to please take advantage of this service the community is providing. The pantry also offers many other community services. Students delivering items from St. Mary’s (above) were, back row: Gwen Geneski (left), Sunny Geneski, Payton Stech, Michael Vinson, Klaire Stech; front row: Peyton Aschoff, Sam Harder, Emmett Hoffman, Axton Stech, Devin Stech.
