Osmond Music Program Excels

Osmond Community School continues to not only pursue but also achieve excellence in our music programs. Some of this year's happenings with our musical students include:

1. Columbus Parade Sept. 28, finished first in our class with 65 out of 70 points. Out of 15 bands we placed second only to be beaten by Kearney High School, a Double AA school that finished with 69 points out of 70.

2. Harvest of Harmony Oct. 5, finished third in our class with 89 out of 100 points. We were one point away from second place in our class. We were one of 35 bands in our class to compete that day. We did place in the top 10 bands out of over 100 bands in all class sizes.

3. March to the Meridian Parade Oct. 12, finished first in our class with 484 out of 600 points. We swept our competition by beating them in every single judging category except for one category.

With partnering with Wausa Public Schools with football, both schools worked together on pep band performances for football.

1. We traveled to Wausa a total of three times to play with the Wausa pep band. The third time we combined on Oct. 18 for a 3 p.m. game where the news called us the 'band of the week.' Attached is a picture.

2. The Osmond students learned two fight songs for the fall season and half of the music was shared music between the two schools. The bands never

rehearsed together. They just performed together and did a wonderful job. Music awards and qualifiers:

1. NECC Hawfest Honor Band on Oct. 7 — Erin Wagner, Keely Gubbels and Jack Berg all participated with Erin Wagner being awarded a $1,000 scholarship for NECC.

2. Conference Honor Choir students were announced as Korrine Moes, Erin Wagner, Jack Berg and Donovan Heiman. They participated in the audition group for the Conference Vocal Clinic on Nov. 4 and received a Conference medal for this honor. The event was at Randolph Public Schools.

3. Three students auditioned for the NMEA All-State Honor Choir this year which is more than the previous year. Erin Wagner made the highly competitive ensemble as an Alto 1. There are only 400 students selected in the entire state of Nebraska for this honor choir. This is her third year going to NMEA All-State.

4. We currently have 10 7-12 band students signed up to participate in this year's Conference Honor Band on Jan. 18 at Wayne State College. This is the most we have had to attend in several years.

Other music info:

1. The 4-6 choir, 7-12 choir and 7-12 band performed at this year's Veteran's Day Program on Nov. 11 in the gym.

2. This year's Christmas Program is taking to the seas! 'Get ready for one mighty adventure when the legendary White Beard (aka Santa) and the elves teach a salty crew of colorful scallywags all about true treasure.' Sixth graders are working hard to learn lines and to learn the roles of their characters so that this year's Christmas play is spectacular.

A huge Thank you to our music directors, Mrs. Crystalin Ginn and Mrs. Vanessa Steinkraus for helping our students develop their musical abilities.
