Fog has been seen in northeast Nebraska off and on since Jan. 23, according to the National Weather Service in Omaha. Lead meteorologist Becky Kern explained a combination of cold ground containing lots of moisture, a warmer-than-normal air mass overhead and little to no wind allowed fog to settle across the region for several days recently. The law requires producers who plan to apply fertilizer or pesticide through an irrigation system to be certified by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEE). Certification is valid for four years, and training is provided through UNL Extension. 01/31/2024 12:00 AM
