BLOOMFIELD — The death of a baby at an in-home Bloomfield daycare is being investigated.
On the morning of Jan. 30, the Bloomfield Police Department and Bloomfield Ambulance Service responded to reports of an unresponsive 3-month-old girl at the daycare, according to the Knox County Attorney’s Office.
An investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office revealed the child was found by the daycare provider lying face down and unresponsive in a portable crib.
The infant was transported to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D., where she was pronounced deceased at 12:16 p.m.
Preliminary autopsy reports stated there were no signs of acute trauma to the baby’s body, according to the county attorney’s office, and no criminal charges are anticipated.
