LINCOLN – Nebraska producers planted 10.1 million acres of corn for all purposes, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is up 2% from last year. Of the total acres, 96% were planted with biotechnology varieties, up 2 percentage points from 2023. Nickolas Kumm, who will be a freshman this fall at Osmond High School, competed in the junior division shotgun and .22 rifle competition at the Knox County fair on Saturday, Aug. 3.
