Kumm is grand champion in air rifle competition

Nickolas Kumm, who will be a freshman this fall at Osmond High School, competed in the junior division shotgun and .22 rifle competition at the Knox County fair on Saturday, Aug. 3. He earned a red ribbon in shotgun competi- tion and a red ribbon on his .22 rifle shooting, using only iron sights in that competition.

He earned a red ribbon in shotgun competi- tion and a red ribbon on his .22 rifle shooting, using only iron sights in that competition.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, he competed in the junior division air rifle com petition. He earned the grand champion trophy by shooting a score of 300 out of a perfect 400.

During the fair Aug. 8-11, he entered two projects, earning a blue ribbon on his Lego cars entry and a purple ribbon on his alfalfa display entry; that entry also earning him a State Fair exhibit entry.

During the livestock portion of the fair, Nickolas and his cousin, Hallie Kumm, each earned a purple ribbon on their companion goats which they showed together in the ring.

Nickolas is the son of Greg and Amanda Kumm. He is a member of the Southeast Wranglers 4-H Club.
