OSMOND – Funeral services for Raelynn M. “Rae” Schuettler, 3 months old, of Osmond, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Saint Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph with Father Kevin Vogel and Deacon Doug Tunink officiating the service. Family burial took place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Osmond with Rev. Scott Kirchoff officiat ing the graveside. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with rosary starting at 7 p.m., also at the St. Frances Catholic Church in Randolph. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for later designation.

Carole “Tutti” Marie Reber
Funeral services for Carole “Tutti” Marie Reber, 72, of Atkinson will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atkinson, with Pastor Leif Hasskarl and Pastor Glenn Emory of- ficiating. Organist Sharon Corkle will accompany the congregation. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atkinson with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Atkinson. Carole “Tutti” Marie Reber of Atkinson passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Plainview Manor in Plainview. Tutti was born on July 2, 1951, in Stuart, the daughter of Robert and IlaMe (Johnson) Engler. She attended grade school in O’Neill until 1961 when the family moved to Osmond. She finished

ELGIN – Private family funeral services for Debra Y. Grothe, 64, of Elgin will be held at the Park Center Congregational United Church of Christ in rural Elgin. Pastor Kate West will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Park Center Church Cemetery in rural Elgin. Pallbearers will be Nate Gerdes, Kash Grothe, Jason Strobbe, Loren Gerdes, Gaylen Gerdes, and Donald Gerdes. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Debra passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at her residence in rural Elgin. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Debra was born on Oct. 26, 1959, in Osmond to Leonard and Lois (Hoestji) Gerdes. She attended grade school in Osmond and graduated from Osmond High School. She then attended college in Norfolk and then later Wayne State College. She graduated from Wayne State and received two master’s degrees. Debra worked as a school teacher for 35 years. She taught in Palos Verdes, CA, and also worked at Disneyland. She later moved back to Nebraska and started at a small school house in Laurel. Deb later moved on to Lynch, Niobrara, Petersburg and Randolph. She married Steven “Steve” Lee Grothe on June 28, 2014, at the Grothe homestead in rural Elgin. After she retired, Debra worked part time at the Ten West Cattle Feedlot in rural Elgin. Debra enjoyed fishing, taking care of animals, poker runs, spending time with her husband, dancing, and having friends and family get togethers. She loved her husband and all the time that she spent with him.

NORFOLK – Funeral services for Harold E. Gerdes, 80, of Ashland, formerly of Osmond, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Rev. Terry Buol will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by American Legion Post 16, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644 of Norfolk, and the United States Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jacob Burke, Joseph Burke, Jesse Burke, Travis vonRentzell, Eric Pearson, and Johanna Burke. Honorary pallbearer will be Kaleb Rader-Farabee. Harold passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at his residence in rural Ashland. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Harold was born on May 14, 1943, in Osmond to Henry A. and Johanna N. (Kuhl) Gerdes. He attended grade school and high school in Osmond. OSMOND – Funeral services for Charlotte Athlyn Blunck, 92, of Osmond were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond with Reverend Scott Kirchoff officiating. Interment was at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Osmond. Music was provided by Lori Koehler, with congregational hymns “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “Jesus Christ My Sure Defense,” “Asleep In Jesus” and “For All The Saints.”

Faye M. Wangstrom
Funeral services for Faye M. Wangstrom, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory in Yankton with Pastor Steve Weispfennig of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Yankton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Faye, daughter of Willie and Christina (Kube) Gansebom, was born at the family farm south of Osmond on Dec. 5, 1929. She was a baptized and confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. Faye attended country school, Immanuel Lutheran School, and Osmond High School, graduating with the Class of 1947. She attended Wayne State College for a teaching certificate.
