Imelda Jean Kube
Imelda Jean Kube
Mrs. Kube passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
A former resident of Columbus, NE, Imelda was born on April 20, 1950, in Osmond to George A. and Julia C. Luebbers. After high school in Osmond, she attended Nettleton College in Omaha where she was recipient of an associate’s degree in drafting, followed by an initial career at Leo A. Daly Architectural Firm in Omaha, designing beautiful blueprints, copies of which are still held lovingly by the family. Imelda worked in numerous careers and in several positions throughout her life but her heart was always with her kids. Imelda had an unwavering dedication to her family above all else, shaping her career choices around their wellbeing and offering steady support, love, and care. She worked in the local public school system, giving back to her community while remaining close to home and children. Known for her boundless generosity, she gave much of her free time unselfishly to numerous organizations and com- munity events including firefighter and veteran events, community fairs, family shelters, and medical centers. Her generosity expanded beyond just the community; she was known for limitless kindness with abandoned or injured animals, spending inordinate amounts of time caring for them even late into the night. In her spare time, she loved spoiling her grandchildren, baking, cooking and painting, and was a voracious reader. Traveling was one of her greatest passions. She delighted in exploring the diverse landscapes across the United States, climbing glaciers in New Zealand, trekking the hills of Scotland, swimming in the Tasman Sea, whale watching in the South Pacific, and marveling at the ancient wonder of Stonehenge.
Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters and one son, Nicole Cummings of Mililani, HI, and Natalie Kube and Ryan Kube of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Danica “Robyn” Cummings, Skye Cummings, Hannah Parks, and Ashlyn “Jay” Parks; six siblings, Ruth Cornell and Pauline Bruce of California, and Karen Luebbers, Marjory Cockson, Philip Luebbers and Grace Fricke of Nebraska. Numerous extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, contributions may be made to Hope Fund For Women’s Cancer Research at Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center - Nebraska Medical Center, 505 South 45th Street, Omaha Nebraska 68105.
Imelda will live in our hearts forever as one of the kindest, most loving, and generous souls to walk this Earth. She gave more than she ever took, and our lives are richer for the beautiful example of love she shared through the way she lived.
