Special session ends with slight decrease

The Legislature concluded the special session that was called to relieve property taxes on Tuesday, August20.Afteracontentiousstart, senators agreed to compromise on legislation that will frontload the Nebraska Property Tax Incentive Act credits from LB1107 (2020) directly onto taxpayer’s property tax statements, trim and adjust the state budget by $185 million, and tighten existing property tax levy caps for counties, cities, villages to the greater of inflation or 0 percent. Of the 81 bills and 24 resolutions introduced, only 4 became law. All four bills that were given final approval will go into effect upon the governor’s signature. 08/29/2024 12:00 AM

Roster: Tiernee Freeman, Destiny Rich, Hallie Kumm, Miranda Loseke, Lorelie Duffy, Luke Woockman, Evan Hollander, Tomik Duffy, Ty Freeman and Abe Wynia Coaches: Brian Santiago, Jackie Loecker Team Strengths: We have four boys returning from last year state qualifier team. Luke Woockman returning state medalist- 7th; Tiernee is a fearless leader and is our only senior. Tiernee has a lot of experience in being part of state qualifying teams Coach’s Outlook: The boys team is looking strong this year coming off of being state qualifiers last year. Luke leading the way for our team and having a great team with him. Luke was a state medalist last year with Ty, Tomik, and Evan returning also. We have added Abe Wynia to the team and will be a great addition. The girls team is a young team this year. Leading the way in the girls team is Tiernee Freeman. Tiernee is our only senior this year. She is joined by Destiny Rich, Hallie Kumm, Miranda Loseke, and Lorelie Duffy. Land prices and rental rates are some of the highest expenses a producer must face annually. Every summer, UNL’s Center of Agricultural Profitability (CAP) releases The Nebraska Farm Real Estate Market survey. Those wanting to check it out themselves can find a pdf version at cap.unl.edu/land or can contact their local extension office, but here are some highlights: Across the state, the all-land average value for ag real estate in Nebraska increased by five percent. The Northeast region saw the second highest percent change at a six percent increase with the East region not far behind at four percent.
