Springtime in Nebraska?

OSMOND – The calendar might say it’s springtime, but in Osmond, it feels more like winter. The rain that started the end of last week turned into a Winter Weather Advisory on Sunday, which continued through early Tuesday morning. This area got about an inch of precipitation, but it quickly turned to ice and then blowing snow, and school was canceled on Monday and Tuesday.

OSMOND — The calendar might say it’s springtime, but in Osmond, it feels more like winter. The rain that started the end of last week turned into a Winter Weather Advisory on Sunday, which continued through early Tuesday morning. This area got about an inch of precipitation, but it quickly turned to ice and then blowing snow, and school was canceled on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday morning, there were widespread power outages with Osmond losing power about 10:20 a.m. and lasting until about 11:30 a.m. The power went off one more time, from about 8 p.m. to almost 9 p.m. Monday night.

Regarding the new generator that Osmond recently acquired, it was explained that someone from the power company must come and turn it on in case of a power outage. It is not possible for it to start up automatically, because if there are downed power lines, they would not want the generator to kick on and send power through those downed lines.

The good news is that, beginning on Thursday, the temperatures will climb into the 50s, making for a nice Easter weekend.
