NIOBRARA – Freshmen and sophomores from Wausa Public Schools will assemble with other Knox County students in the same grades on March 14 in Niobrara for an interactive career exploration simulation program.

The “Connecting the Dots” program, which is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Niobrara Public Schools, in the past has been brought to the students through a partnership between Knox County Economic Development and Nebraska Extension in Knox County to help area youth as they begin laying the foundation for their future.

The program is designed to help students learn more about careers of interest as well as how to “connect the dots” from where they are now, through post-secondary studies, to the workplace.

The students will experience a “real life” simulation to learn how their high school choices impact their post-secondary studies and their workplace experiences.

They are supposed to attend the event with a specific career field they feel they are interested in and they then have the opportunity to learn more about their favorite careers and possibly some careers they have never considered.

The students will learn about the importance of networking as they begin to prepare for their careers, especially with the local business professionals from a variety of fields who will come in from the area to present about their specific careers.
