Wattier places in Conference Championships

On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Wayne State College track and field athletes attended the 2024 Northern Sun Conference Championships at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, MN. In prelims, sophomore Keaton Wattier advanced to Saturday's final of the 60-meter hurdles with the No. 6 qualifying time of 8.17 seconds to eclipse his previous record of 8.19 seconds set last month at the Mark Schuck Open in Mankato.

In prelims, sophomore Keaton Wattier advanced to Saturday's final of the 60-meter hurdles with the No. 6 qualifying time of 8.17 seconds to eclipse his previous record of 8.19 seconds set last month at the Mark Schuck Open in Mankato.

On Saturday, Keaton once again broke his record by running a time of 8.08 seconds, which landed him fifth place in that finals race. Keaton Wattier’s accomplishment moved him to the rank of 37th in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship performance list.

Keaton is the son of Eric and Lynn Wattier of Osmond, and grandson of Liz Wattier of Osmond and Theresa Parks of Norfolk.
