BLOOMFIELD – Memorial services have been scheduled for one of the two men killed on Feb. 20 in a shooting at Curt’s Lanes and Dining in Bloomfield.
The services for Curtis “Curt” Strom, 77, Bloomfield, have been set for 11 a.m. March 2 inside the Bloomfield Community Schools auditorium, with a luncheon to follow at the Knox County Fairgrounds pavilion. Burial will take place at a later date.
Military honors will be provided for Strom, a U.S. Army veteran, by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4996, American Legion Post 249, the Army National Guard Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders.
There will be a visitation inside the auditorium from 4-8 p.m. March 1, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
According to his obituary, Strom and his significant other, Julie Chancey, purchased the bowling alley in Bloomfield in 1973. They celebrated 50 years of ownership in 2023. In addition, Strom loved helping and teaching people how to bowl and going to bowling tournaments with his friends, according to his obituary. He also loved his community and helping those in need. The bowling alley will be closed until further notice, according to a sign posted in a front window of the facility.
William Reffett, 49, Center, was the other shooting victim. Private family services for him will be held at a later date.
Brockhaus Funeral Home, Bloomfield, is in charge of arrangements for both men.
