HARTINGTON — Is your child interested in learning or developing their skills in shooting a shotgun?
Join the Cedar County 4-H Sharp Shooters to learn or develop their skills through the 4-H Shooting Sports project. Jeff Jones and Tim Loberg are certified leaders and volunteers willing to teach youth the disciplines of shotgun. The shotgun program is open to youth ages 11-18 as of Jan. 1 and are hunter safety certified.
All youth interested in becoming members should plan on attending an informational meeting at 3 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Cedar County Extension Office meeting room in Hartington. During this meeting, leaders will go over program details, including practices at the trap house located at the Cedar County Fairgrounds (April-June), competitions and expectations. Members will pay their dues, sign release waivers and sign up for the 4-H program electronically if they haven’t already.
The Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports program offers opportunities for youth to learn and develop safe firearm handling skills and sound fundamentals of shooting under the guidance of knowledgeable adult volunteers. It also offers opportunities for competition where youth can exhibit their skills and abilities and compete with other 4-H members from across the state.
