This year, in an effort to continue to grow within the MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support) process at Osmond Community Schools, the school has added a PBiS team within the building. PBiS is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
It is put in place to have a definitive boundary between good and bad behaviors within the school.
This extra support is being implemented in the kindergarten through sixth grade classes as a way to encourage appropriate attitudes and behaviors within the school.
As a way to encourage appropriate attitudes and behavior, the school has begun to recognize students who exemplify these positive behaviors.
Once a month, the PBiS team will define and remind students of one positive behavioral keyword during announcements.
All staff who recognize a student doing something “Pawsitive”, whether it be helping a peer, picking up trash, etc., will reward the student with a custom Tiger paw on the “Caught Being Pawsitive” wall, a sticker and a “Pawsitive” note sent home to let parents know of their student’s awesome behavior at school!
At the end of each month, students will be invited to a fun afternoon activity with recognition of all students who received a PBiS “Pawsitive” Tiger paw.
