The Osmond-Randolph Hawks finished up their regular season this past week with games in Osmond Monday night against Wausa and Friday night against Stuart.
Hawks vs. Vikings
OSMOND — On Monday, Feb. 5, against Wausa, in a rematch game from earlier in the season at the Post Holiday Tournament, the visiting Vikings came in looking to avenge their 48-37 loss. It was going to be a good battle as both teams were playing hard in the first half with the Hawks taking an 11-10 advantage after the first quarter.
The second quarter remained competitive, but Osmond-Randolph was able to extend their lead outpacing Wausa 13-8 in the stanza to take a 24-18 lead into the intermission.
The third quarter proved to be a big one for the Hawks as they held the Vikings scoreless and added 14 of their points to bring the score to 38-18 going into the final quarter of play.
Wausa was able to outscore Osmond-Randolph in the fourth quarter 7-6, but it was not enough as the Hawks were able to record another win on the season with a 44-- 25 final score.
Keli Aschoff was able to record a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kaleigh Miller added a tremendous effort to the cause, coming up just shy of a double-double with 9 points and a team high 11 rebounds. The Hawks as a team grabbed 44 total rebounds during the game. OSMOND — On Friday, Feb. 9, the Hawks welcomed the Stuart Broncos to town for their final game of the regular season.
Osmond-Randolph took a slim 9-6 lead after the first quarter of action.
The second quarter saw the Hawks struggle to get shots to fall as Stuart was able to take a 16-12 lead going into the halftime break.
The third quarter was a very competitive quarter as both teams would trade baskets but Stuart would build on their lead slightly, outscoring the Hawks 15-14 in the quarter to take a 31-26 lead going into the final quarter. The final quarter was full of excite - ment as both teams would fight back and forth until the end. A Sophie Gansebom 3-pointer in the closing seconds pulled the Hawks within 1 point.
A final timeout to stop the clock, and a foul to send a Stuart player to the free throw line with only 0.2 seconds left on the clock didn’t leave the Hawks with enough time. A made free throw would take them to the final score of 40-38 in favor of the Broncos.
Despite the final score result, the Hawks were able to outmatch the Broncos in every statistical category. Osmond-Randolph would eclipse the 40 rebound mark for the second straight game as they finished with 42 total rebounds. The rough shooting night proved to be too much for the Hawks to overcome as they finished 14 of 78 from the field and 9 of 19 from the free throw line.
