WINNETOON – A Brunswick woman has died from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle collision west of Winnetoon on Feb. 1.
At about 7:30 a.m., the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 north of the Winnetoon corner.
A white 2014 GMC, driven by Kendra Schroeder, Brunswick, had been traveling south and attempted to pass another southbound vehicle when it struck a northbound red 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Teresa Schacht, Orchard. The vehicles hit head-on in very dense fog, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both drivers and a 13-year-old boy were taken to Avera Creighton Hospital with serious injuries by Creighton and Verdigre rescue units. Schroeder was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The collision was investigated by the sheriff’s office and assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol.
Fire-and-rescue units from Creighton and Verdigre responded to the scene, helped extract the crash victims and assisted in directing traffic in the dense fog while the collision was being investigated.
