WWO wrestlers travel to two tournaments

Some of the WWO wrestlers traveled to either Elkhorn Valley or Wayne on Sunday, Feb. 4. The young wrestlers worked very hard and showed a lot of improvement.

Some of the WWO wrestlers traveled to either Elkhorn Valley or Wayne on Sunday, Feb. 4. The young wrestlers worked very hard and showed a lot of improvement.

There was a lot of hard competition but the young wrestlers rose to the challenge. The team had four first-place medalists, seven second-place medal ists, one third-place medalist and one fourth place!

Elkhorn Valley Tourney

First-second grade boys 95-100 lbs. - Tripp Koehler, first place, won by fall over Grosserode of Elkhorn Valley and Moser of Boone Central Third-fourth grade boys 100-106 lbs. - Knox Koehler, first place, won by fall over Cornett of Plainview and Brummels of Battle Creek Fifth-sixth grade boys 88-96 lbs. — Michael Vinson, second place, won by fall over Frahm of Plainview and Johnsen of Elkhorn Valley, lost by 3-13 major decision to Parr of Ironhawk Fifth-sixth grade boys 112-115 lbs. — Connor Melcher, second place, won by 16-0 tech fall over Wiese of NGSE, won by fall over Winkelbauer of St. Mary’s, lost by fall to Nelson of Plainview First-second grade girls 64-65 lbs. — Remi Schieffer, second place, lost by 11-17 decision to Broekemeier of Elkhorn Valley, won by fall over Cora Zegers of Neligh-Oakdale First-second grade girls 70-75 lbs. — Makenzie Dick, second place, lost by fall to Chilson of NGSE in the first and second rounds

Third-fourth grade girls 59-68 lbs. — Alivia Vinson, third place, won by 17-1 tech fall over Miller of Randolph, lost by 1-9 major decision to Mosel of Plainview, lost by 4-14 major decision to Mauch of Boone Central Seventh-eighth grade girls 130-135 lbs. — Adyson Poellot, second place, lost by 5-11 decision to Johnson of St. Mary’s, won by fall over Rinkol of Norfolk
