Tigers run at Battle Creek invitational
BATTLE CREEK — Tuesday, April 8, was the annual Battle Creek Invitational. The weather was very nice with a light breeze. The field of teams included many northeast Nebraska track powerhouses with the host Braves winning both divisions.
Best finish for the Tigers was sophomore Caleb Vinson with a third- place finish in the 800 meters. Caleb finished just three seconds behind Battle Creek’s Jaxon Kilmurry in a time of 2:16.42. Jaxon Vinson just missed a medal, placing eighth in a time of 2:22.27. The two teamed up with Noah Geneski and Mason True for the 1,600-relay where they finished in sixth place. They were clocked in a time of 4:00.86.
Noah Geneski had the 10th best prelim time in the 110 high hurdles in 18.87. Mason True had a 13th place finish in the 200-meter prelims (25.61) in a field of 48 sprinters.
Senior Carson Bolz had a pair of season’s bests in the throws. His shotput distance of 43 ft., 0 in. was 11th in the prelims and his discus toss was 12th at 118-9.
For the girls’ team, Deanna Kumm finished ninth in the 3,200 meters in a season’s best time of 16:18.36.
“I am happy we continue to improve and register personal records (PR) each meet. The hard work will pay off,” commented Coach Joe Ortmeier.
