Osmond student represents school at Pierce Honor Band

OHS Tiger Tales

PIERCE — This past Saturday, April 5, was a big day for young musicians in northeast Nebraska as the annual Pierce Honor Band brought together talented students from across the region for a day of rehearsal and performance. Held in the Pierce High School gymnasium, the event featured two bands — one for sixth and seventh graders and another for eighth and ninth graders — culminating in a concert at 3:30 p.m. Representing Osmond Community Schools was Dawson Gansebom, who performed on baritone saxophone with the 8/9 band after earning his spot through a successful audition. The selection is a notable accomplishment, recognizing Dawson's musical talent and dedication to his craft. What made Dawson's participation even more impressive was that April 5 also happened to be the day of Osmond's prom, where he was honored as the freshman attendant. Balancing both significant events in a single day is no easy task, but Dawson managed it with grace and commitment, making it a day to remember for many reasons.

'I'm so proud of him,' said Christalin Ginn, Osmond's music director. 'It was wonderful to see him perform, and it makes me happy that students like Dawson see music as so important that they choose to make it a priority — even on a busy day like prom.'

The Pierce Honor Band provided a great opportunity for students to come together, refine their skills, and share their love of music. For Dawson, it was a day that showcased both his talent and his admirable dedication to representing his school with pride — on the concert stage and at the prom.
