Student Council brings ‘Critters’ to school

Student Council brings ‘Critters’ to school
Regina Lorenz | Osmond Republican

The Osmond Community School Elementary Student Council brought a bunch of little and big "critters to the school cafeteria as they hosted Critter Close-Ups on Thursday, March 27.

Critter Close-Ups is an exotic animal educational program presented by Jodi and Dan Osborne of Herman, NE, that "brings the zoo to you!" According to her website, Jodi Osborne has always had a passion for animals. Her passion for exotics began with her first Capuchin monkey, Dexter, and it quickly grew into a business, to educate and entertain people of all ages. She and her husband, Dan, now have about 60 exotic animals at their location.

The animals they brought with them on Thursday included Luna, the sugar glider; Butterscotch, a lion head rabbit; Zingetsu, a Chinchilla; Pigcat, a Juliana pig (which is NOT a type of pot belly pig); Big B, a Burmese python, and Dexter, the monkey.

The students asked many questions about the animals, such as how old they were, how old they can get, what they eat, where they live, etc.

The presentation ended with Dexter, the monkey, who made the children laugh as he flipped over - for treats, of course.

In top photo, after Jodi’s presentation, the kids had no fear of Big B the snake as it moved around on the floor. In center photo, Toby Koehler holds Pigcat the Juliana pig. In bottom photo, Dexter the monkey made Julian Herrera (left) and Spade Johnson laugh with his antics.
