WAUSA β The Osmond High School speech team traveled to Wausa on Monday, March 17, for the district speech contest, and returned with the district champion plaque.
The D1-3 Districts consisted of teams from Osmond, Wausa, Elgin, Bloomfield, Winside, Niobrara, Neligh-Oakdale, and Randolph. In competitive speech, there are 10 different events that students can enter in. The Osmond district speech team had 19 events ready for competition. All 19 of these events made it to the final round of district competition.

The speech team will head to Kearney Thursday morning, March 27. State speech is set up as a three rounds and finals meet. This means that all events will perform three times. After those rounds, results are tabulated and the top 6 will compete in the final round for medal placings.
Coach Patricia Marks commented, βThe speech team competed well yesterday at Wausa. This was a testament to the hard work and dedication they have been putting in for the past couple months. I believe they will represent Osmond well in the state speech competition next week in Kearney.β
