Derek Lynaugh, grandson of Wayne and Charlotte Blunck and a Warrant Officer 3 in the National Guard, flew his Chinook helicopter over Osmond on Sunday as he was coming from Sioux City and heading back to Grand Island. His National Guard unit was training at an area by Ponca over the weekend. According to CPT Joshua Kelsey, commander of C-Troop,
1-134th Cavalry Squadron, the unit flew in on two CH-47's and conducted an air assault into the Rev-Tac training area. After the air assault, they conducted various training such as land navigation, observation post setup and reconnaissance tasks. Once they completed the training they bussed back to the armory.
