OHS speech team to host parents night Thursday

(By Coach Patricia Marks) The Osmond speech team has been hard at work the past few weeks. Osmond competed at the Wausa speech meet on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Crofton speech meet on Saturday, Feb. 22, and at the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge speech meet on Saturday, March 1.

Wausa Meet

At the Wausa speech meet, Osmond finished in fourth place. Medal win ners were: Easton Steinkraus, second in JV Entertainment; Deanna Kumm, third in JV Humorous; Ava Reikofski, fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking; Jade Halsey, sixth in Informative Speaking; Erin Wagner, fourth in Informative Speaking; Piper Hoffman, third in Persuasive Speaking; Jack Berg, fifth in Humorous Prose; Erin Aschoff, third in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI); Donovan Heiman and Piper Hoffman, sixth in Duet Acting, and Erin Wagner and Meagan Wagner, first in Duet Acting.

Crofton Meet

At the Crofton speech meet, medal winners were Ava Reikofski, second in Extemporaneous Speaking; Erin Wagner, fifth in Program of Oral

Interpretation (POI); Erin Aschoff, fourth in Program of Oral Interpreta- tion (POI); Meagan Wagner, fifth in

Serious Prose, and Erin Wagner and Meagan Wagner, fifth in Duet Acting.

LCC Speech Meet

At the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge speech meet, Osmond took home Champion Honors. Second place went to Humphrey and third place was Plainview.

Medal winners were: Ava Reikof- ski, first in Extemporaneous Speak ing; Donovan Heiman, second in Entertainment Speaking; Jade Halsey, third in Informative Speaking; Erin Wagner, first in Informative Speak ing; Erin Wagner, second in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI); Erin Aschoff, third in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI); Erin Aschoff, sixth in Serious Prose; Piper Hoffman, fourth in Persuasive Speaking; Jack Berg, second in Humorous Prose; Piper Hoffman and Donovan Heiman, fourth in Duet Acting, and Erin Wagner and Meagan Wagner, first in Duet Acting.

Parents Night Thursday

Coming up next for the Osmond speech team is Parents Night on Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m. Students will be performing their individual speeches in three different sections.

When the individual events are fin ished, everyone will gather in the lunchroom to hear the duet and OID performances.

On Saturday, March 8, the team will compete at the Creighton speech meet. On Monday, March 10, the team will travel to Homer for the Lewis and Clark Conference Speech Meet. Monday, March 17, is the D1-3 District speech contest where competitors will have a chance to qualify for the state speech contest to be held at Kearney High School on Friday, March 28, 2025.
