PEO Chapter BE offers scholarships to area girls; Fritz scholarship added

PIERCE — Chapter BE Pierce has added a third scholarship to be offered to high school senior girls from Pierce and Osmond.

For more than 25 years, the Dorothy Fogle Memorial Scholarship and the Marguerite Scholar and Citizen Awards have been made available to senior girls from Pierce and Osmond.

This year, a third scholarship, the Candy Fritz Memorial Scholarship, will be offered as well. Candy Fritz, a long-time member of Chapter BE and businesswoman in Osmond, is being memorialized through this scholarship.

When Candy died on April 3, 2024, her son Daniel decided to designate the memorial moneys to the local scholarship fund of Chapter BE. Dan had clear memories of his mother Candy preparing to host chapter meetings and her dedication to the education mission of P.E.O.

Chapter BE members remember that Candy spoke in support of those young women especially, who were not following the fouryear college degree path but who might be interested in certificate or training programs. These educational pathways would allow young women to enter the work force in a skilled position that interested them.

The deadline for all three scholarships is March 1st. High school counsellors at Pierce and Osmond high schools have the application information required for entry.

In addition to these local scholarships, International P.E.O. offers educational loans at 2% interest rates, grants, and other scholarships for females. Information regarding financial assistance of fered by International P.E.O. can be secured by emailing chapter BE at [email protected].
