LINCOLN – On Jan. 1, 2025, the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) implemented the Prenatal Plus Program.
The Prenatal Plus Program supports Nebraska Medicaid-eligible pregnant mothers identified by their prenatal healthcare provider as being at risk for negative maternal or infant health outcomes. The program aims to reduce the incidence of low birth weight, pre-term birth, and adverse birth outcomes while addressing lifestyle, behavioral, and nonmedical factors that may impact the health and well-being of both mother and child.
Eligibility Criteria Individuals who are eligible to participate in the Prenatal Plus Program are at-risk mothers , defined as individuals who are:
Enrolled in Medicaid Pregnant Determined by her healthcare provider to be at risk of having a negative maternal or infant health outcome Individuals in the 599 CHIP category are not eligible to participate in the Prenatal Plus Program.
Program Services Five services are provided and eligible for reimbursement through the Prenatal Plus Program, as required by Legislative Bill 857 (LB857, 2024).
General Patient Education and Health Promotion Nutrition Counseling Psychosocial Counseling and Support Breastfeeding Support Targeted Case Management (TCM) Nebraska Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) will present provider training on the Prenatal Plus Program. All trainings will be one-hour virtual sessions and will occur on the following dates and times: Feb. 7 at 12 p.m. CST Feb. 19 at 7:30 a.m CST Details on how to join these sessions will be added to the MCO’s websites in the coming weeks.
