Students at St. Mary’s Catholic School celebrated Catholic Schools Week with events each day, including a talent show on Friday, Jan. 31. Kids sang songs and showed their talents in a variety of ways.
In the opening act, all students of the school sang “They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love.”
Various talents shown were helicopter jump rope, Will Eckstrom; hula hoops, Megan Moes and Reagan Schieffer; whistle and snapping fingers, Dean Krienert; magic shows, Aubrey Stech and Hazel Steinkraus, and Clara Steffen and Kinsley Wilson; jump rope, Zella Timmerman and Aubrey Stech; jokes, Bo Aschoff and Liam Stech. Hazel Steinkraus and Heidi Geneski gave a dance routine, and the fifth and sixth grade class did science experiments.
Piano performances included Clara Steffen and Raelynn Schieffer on “This Little Light Is Gonna Shine;” Remi Schieffer, "Old McDonald's Farm," "Yankee Doodle" and "Jesus Loves Me;” Raelynn Schieffer, “You Can Fly, You Can Fly, You Can Fly” and "Dance Of The Irish," and Klaire Stech.
The Pre-K and kindergarten class sang dog songs; Alivia Vinson and Bennett Aschoff sang “Till You Can’t” and Alivia and Michael Vinson sang “Humble & Kind.”
Skits included Duck Song by the first grade class, "Fruits of the Spirit" by the third and fourth grade students, and a video skit by the seventh and eighth graders.
Also on Friday was the pizza party for students and their families.
