Lady Tigers fall to Sandhills-Thedford

The Osmond Lady Tigers traveled to Burwell Saturday, Dec. 28, for a neutral site game with the Lady Knights from Sandhills-Thedford.

Sandhills-Thedford was a state tournament team last year in class D2, and provided Osmond a unique opportunity to face a completely new opponent.

The first half saw the Lady Tigers struggle to get the ball to fall through the hoop on offense, but were able to make the most of their opportunities at the free throw line as they would only get 2 and 5 points scored, respectively, in the first and second quarters. Sand hills/Thedford would hold a 16-7 lead going into the halftime break.

The second half was about as even as you'll get in basketball with Sandhills/ Thedford outscoring Osmond by only 1 total point in the second half of play. The Lady Knights used a high shooting percentage and scoring putbacks from offensive rebounds to secure them a victory via a 38-28 final score.

Keli Aschoff returned to the court to lead Osmond in scoring with 11 points. Kaleigh Miller provided a team-high 9 rebounds.
