OSMOND — Boyd Doyle of Osmond and other northeast Nebraska linemen responded to the Hurricane Helene storm damage as mutual aid on Sept. 30.
They worked in storm-damaged areas, restoring downed power lines in Alamo, GA, for two weeks.
Their working area did not receive the heavy flooding, but rather the heavy winds.
The local residents there expressed this was the first time they had a hurricane go that far inland and they actually experienced the “eye of the hurricane” go over them. There was a lot of powerful wind damage.
Those helping with Hurricane Helene clean-up were Joe Brandt (pictured, left), Tom Weyeneth, Nathan Pospisal, Georgia lineman guide Jordan, Toby Braun, Boyd Doyle, Luke Kalin and Blake Moberow.
On Aug. 1, crew from Northeast Power traveled to Omaha to help OPPD restore power.
The area was hit hard with powerful winds that left 220,000 people without power.
Those traveling to Omaha at that time were Doyle, Lucas Gubbels, Riley Clausen, Pospisal, Moberow, Weyeneth, Brandt, Kalin and Braun.
