CREIGHTON — Last Saturday, Dec. 7, the Osmond-Wausa wrestling team headed to the Creighton invitational. They had a successful start to the season, with all wrestlers placing in the top four of their weight classes.
The team also scored a combined 101 points to secure the third place spot.
Head Coach Nathan Vinson says, “I’m proud of this team for their start to the season. It’s only a testament of what is yet to come.”
120 lb. — Blake Hernandez (0-2) lost by fall to Meyer of Randolph in two rounds, placed second and scored 12 team points
132 lbs. — Mason True (1-2) lost by fall to Barnell of Creighton and Jensen of Randolph, won by fall over Motacek of Niobrara-Verdigre, placed third and scored 11 team points
138 lbs. — Caleb Vinson won by fall over Couch of St. Mary’s, Worlein of Randolph, Brodersen of Randolph and Schulz of Newman Grove/St. Edward, lost by fall to LaDeaux of Creighton, placed second and scored 20 team points
150 lbs. — Kaleb Gardner won by fall over MacAskill of Niobrara-Verdigre, won by 11-2 manor decision over Junck of Randolph, placed first and scored 19 team points
157 lbs. — Jaxon Vinson won by tech fall over Cole of St. Mary’s, lost by 8-9 decision to Leija of Randolph, won by fall over Cole of St. Mary’s, placed second and scored 15.5 team points
285 lbs. — Carson Bolz won by fall over Umberger of Randolph, won by forfeit over Stolpe of Osmond-Wausa, won by fall over Klug of Niobrara- Verdigre and Pavelka of Creighton, placed first and scored 24 team points 285 lbs. — Tate Stolpe lost by fall to Klug of Niobrara-Verdigre, lost by forfeit to Bolz of Osmond-Wausa, lost by fall to Pavelka of Creighton, won by fall over Umberger of Randolph, placed fourth
