OSMOND — The annual community Christmas Wishes gathering will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the city auditorium. Hosted by Sons of the American Legion (SAL), it combines an evening of entertainment with honoring local veterans and assisting those who could use a little help at Christmastime.

The evening will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p,m., followed by a dinner catered by Tiger Tavern at 6:30 p.m. An “Osmond video” will be shown by Jeff and Cash Luhr, featuring Osmond veterans who died during the past year.

Meuret Boys

This year’s entertainment will feature the Meuret Boys, sons of James and Michelle Meuert of Brunswick. Owen, age 12, has been playing the violin for four years. Louis, age 10, and Gus, age 8, have been playing the violin for three years. Tom, age 4, is the youngest member of the group and he just started playing the violin a couple months ago. Louis started playing the cello about three months ago as well.

The boys take lessons over Zoom.As they improve, they take in person lessons once a month in Omaha. They have performed at small town events, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and farmers markets. They also play annually at the Durham Heritage Museum in Omaha during the Christmas season.

The boys are homeschooled - Owen is in seventh grade, Louis is fifth grade, Gus is in second grade and Tom is in preschool. Their father, James, is a lawyer and works with his family in the grain business. Their mother, Michelle, is their homeschool teacher and keeps the family organized.

Helping Others is Focus
