Everyone is inspired by at least one particular emotion or feeling in life to achieve or create something. For some people, that could simply be the need to get out of bed and go to work, making just enough scratch to feed and shelter themselves.
Hunger and warmth are powerful motivators. Some people will have a greater desire during their time here on earth and thusly, achieve or create more. It’s all just a matter of preference.
Beautiful works of art are magnificent. Skyscrapers kissing the clouds are breath-taking. Dirt pampered and cared for to produce livestock and row crops is manna from above and everything else in between that offers a good or service for the benefit of your family, your neighbor and your pocketbook are included. All of these are obtained through an inspiration. Dull knives remain in the drawer.
The human brain is a complex network of nerves and blood vessels, water, protein and carbohydrates, sucking up knowledge and storing it away for later use. It weighs three pounds, uses 20% of our daily oxygen and caloric intake.
It’s also 60% fat. It is a miracle.
It also lends itself to wild thoughts and visions and dreams, either pleasant in most societal settings or deeds of depravity in others. I’d much rather dwell on the fabulous fantasy than its dreadful nemesis: the dungeon of the demented.
As a child I would close my eyes and I could see events so clearly, how they started, how they occurred and how they ended.
A young fawn has been abandoned in the woods and I nurture it back to health. It grows to become a strong and mighty buck. I put my horse saddle of him and hold on to the antlers, we run and jump for hours through the fields, proud and majestic.
The older boys and men on the lake return in their motorboats, showing off
their stringers of fish, boasting and bragging at their skill and talent. I push away from the dock in my flat bottom skiff, pulling in the tie rope, pumping the water with the oars, heading toward the submerged timber.
When I return home, I am being pulled back by a monster, the likes of which have never been seen before. I remove the loop of rope from its dorsal fin and slowly drift toward shore. It breaches the water like a whale and returns to the deep. The onlookers are stunned. I am hailed as the greatest of all time.
The world has gone mad. I am the CEO of a national retail chain that sells everything under the sun, from food to pharmaceuticals to Frisbees at the lowest price possible. I have more money than I’ll ever need. An element of the public is threatening to rob my stores, boycott my stores and then burn my stores. I look for inspiration to weather the storm. He stands right beside me but I cannot see him. He died on a cross.
My competitors are caving to the pressure. They sacrifice values and common sense and cater to the bizarre indulgences and demands of those in the dungeon of the demented. I bend a little, probably a little too much for too long, but I do not break.
I am ambitious and I open more stores. I use their weaknesses and their lack of simple biology against them. I do not hate, but I do not have to like or agree. DEI - diversity, equity and inclusion is a terrible marketing strategy.
I’m running a reverse.
