OSMOND — The Osmond High School junior class recently participated in the annual Voice of Democracy essay contest. The contest was sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7838 and its Auxiliary. Serving as cochairpersons for the contest were Dallas Steckelberg and Keri Schultze.
The 2024-25 theme was “Is America Today our Forefathers’ Vision?” Contestants were asked to prepare a three- to five-minute speech, which was submitted by audio for judging.
Winning the local contest was Jade Halsey, daughter of Jared Halsey and Tamarie Vogt, and Rebecca Fletcher. Second-place honors went to Jack Berg, son of Jason and Heather Berg. Third place was awarded to Ava Reikofski, daughter of Jay and Michelle Reikofski.
Each of the top three winners received a cash prize and a medal. Jade earned the right to compete at the district level. State and national contests are also held.
