PENDER — The Osmond cross country team traveled to Pender’s Twin Creeks golf course for the D-2 District meet. The wind was a major player in the competition as 30- to
40-mph gusts were common. The Homer boys won the championship, as did the Pender girls.
Individual champion for the boys’ meet was Gannon Pfister of Ponca.
His winning time was 17:28.74. The Osmond boys ran well as they competed with a strong field and tough winds.
The top 15 placers qualify for the state cross country meet next Friday, Oct. 25, at Kearney. Mason True fin ished in 23rd place in 19:27.93, Jack Berg placed 32nd in his best time of the season of 20:14.20 and Donovan Heiman was a very close 35th place in 20:19.00, also his fastest time of the season.
“I was pleased with our team’s toughness in this meet, and their overall improvement over the season,” praised Coach Joe Ortmeier. “They will all be back next year and should be a very good team.”
