Catholic Schools Week starts Sunday

OSMOND – St. Mary’s School will observe Catholic Schools Week beginning with a Mass on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Kevin Vogel as celebrant. The theme for the observance, which continues through Feb. 2, is “Heroes of Our Faith.”

OSMOND — St. Mary’s School will observe Catholic Schools Week beginning with a Mass on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Kevin Vogel as celebrant. The theme for the observance, which continues through Feb. 2, is “Heroes of Our Faith.”

After the opening Mass, activities will move to St. Mary’s Parish Center in the school basement where lunch will be provided by St. Mary’s Association Representing Teachers and Students (SMARTS). An I:55 Book Fair will be held in the school library all week.

Special activities are planned for Monday through Friday.

Monday, Jan. 29 – Samson-Strength Day: “Oh the Hair.” Crazy hair day. All-school trivia will be held at 1 p.m. Community service project.

Tuesday, Jan. 30 – Ruth-Loyal: “We Are Family.” Mass will be held at 8:15 a.m. (Students wear uniforms). Teacher Clue game (based off the interactive Clue board game but with a teacher mystery).

Wednesday, Jan. 31 – Noah-Faith Day: “2 By 2.” Twin Day — Students will pick a friend and dress like twins, triplets or quadruplets. Guest speaker will be Will Abler and team with Real Reptiles (reptiles interactive educational programs feature 6-7 different reptile species from all across the glove).

Thursday, Feb. 1 – David and Goliath-Courage Day: “We Are Mighty.” Students will wear a favorite team jersey, shirt or hat. An all-school movie will be played.

Friday, Feb. 2 – Good Samaritan-Kindness Day: “Be a Super Hero.” First Friday Mass to be held at 8:15 a.m. (students wear uniforms). All alumni are invited. Students may dress like a superhero or wear a hero shirt AFTER Mass. A talent show will be held in the school basement at 10:30 a.m. Family pizza day will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and students are free to dismiss with family afterwards.
