OSMOND — Third grade students at Osmond Community School and St. Mary’s Catholic School spent the week of Oct. 7-11 learning about fire prevention and safety. One of the highlights of their week was the

annual trip to the fire station and the ride on the fire trucks.

The students have shared their thoughts about their week here.

October is Fire Safety Month. I learned that fire gear is heavy. My favorite part of my visit was that I got to ride in the fire truck with the horn that was in the passenger seat.

I learned how many Fire and EMT emergencies they have responded to this year. EMTs have been on 40 to 80 emergencies. Firemen have been on 8 to 10 emergencies. My favorite part of my visit was honking the horn.

I learned how much water the fire trucks hold. The big truck holds 1,5001,600 and the small truck holds 1,000 gallons of water. My favorite part of our visit was riding in the fire truck.
