SUMMERLAND — Osmond-Randolph was on the road at Summerland Friday night, Jan. 19, for their first basketball game two weeks. The 2-10 Hawks were ready to challenge the 11-2, sixth-ranked team in D1.
The Bobcats started out on a 7-0 run in the first quarter, but the Hawks responded with an 11-0 run of their own to take the 11-7 lead after the first stanza. Summerland used a big second quarter to retake the lead going into halftime up 20-17.
In a close third quarter battle, the Hawks were able to trim the lead to a two-point game after three quarters of play. Going into the final period, Summerland held a slim 27-25 lead over the visiting Hawks.
In the fourth quarter, Summerland All-State Senior Adyson Mlnarik, whom the Hawks had been able to hold to only 8 points through the first three quarters, scored 12 of the Bobcats 18 fourth quarter points to pull away for a 45-32 victory over the Hawks.
Sophie Gansebom paced the Hawks with 13 points, Tessa Gardner collected a team-high 5 rebounds, and Keli Aschoff dished out a team-high 4 assists.

Junior Varsity Wins
In junior varsity action, the Hawks played a full four quarter game, their first game in 17 days. In the first half, where baskets were hard to come by for either team, the Hawks held a 14-13 lead. The third quarter saw both teams double their score as Osmond-Randolph held a 28-26 lead. The Hawks were able to secure their third win of the JV season by coming away with a 41-36 victory over the Bobcats. Alexa Aschoff led the charge with 13 points.
