Vikings fall to Wildcats in Homecoming game

OSMOND – Friday, Oct. 4, saw the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats travel to Osmond to take on the Wausa-Osmond Vikings in another district bout for Osmond's Homecoming.

OSMOND — Friday, Oct. 4, saw the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats travel to Osmond to take on the Wausa-Osmond Vikings in another district bout for Osmond's Homecoming.

The Wildcats won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball first. The Vikings played hard but the Wildcats controlled most of the ball game. The opening kickoff was run back for a touchdown, and the 2-point conversion was successful, making it 8-0 early.

A couple of rough first drives saw the Wildcats grab a 24-0 lead. The Vi kings were able to put together a drive and some good defense in the second quarter making the halftime score 30-6.

After half time, the Wildcats came out and continued controlling the game, leading to a final score 56-16.

The Vikings were led in rushing by Jaxon Vinson, Caleb Vinson and Kaleb Gardner. Defensively there were many people able to make tackles.

The Vikings fall to 2-4 on the year and look to take on Crofton in Crofton this Friday, Oct. 11.
