NELIGH — On Monday, Sept. 16, Osmond traveled to the Antelope Country Club for the Neligh-Oakdale cross country invite. Fourteen teams took part in the run over a new course set-up. Creighton won the boys' race by a point over Boyd County and the North Central girls outdistanced Elkhorn Valley by 8 points.
Boyd County’s Will Nelson won the race in a time of 18:52 and his teammate Ethan Zeisler was second, followed by three Creighton runners led by Connor Rohrer.
Sophomore Mason True placed ninth for the Tigers. His time was 20:14, just .01 seconds ahead of Strom of Boyd County. Jack Berg was nine spots after Mason in 18th place. Jack's time was 21:21. Five places behind Jack was Donovan Heiman in 23rd place. His time was 22:32.
“Our guys are doing a good job of running in sight of each other and trying to push each other,” complimented Coach Joe Ortmeier.
In the junior high race, Trenton Wiseley got out very well, maintaining third to fifth place in the first half of the race before finishing the race in eighth place, nearly catching seventh.
His time over the 2,200-meter race was 9:59.
“Trenton ran a very good race,” noted Coach Ortmeier. “He ran with a lot of energy and determination.”
