PIERCE – Do you want to learn how to shoot safely? Do you want to meet new people from around the state?

PIERCE — Do you want to learn how to shoot safely? Do you want to meet new people from around the state?

The Pierce County Shooting Sports (PCSS) 4-H Club is ready to start its upcoming year.

Youth that participate in the club, whether they hunt, shoot competitively, or just shoot for fun, will have a thorough understanding of firearm safety. The experience gained will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to make positive decisions when encountering firearms in the future.

All of the instructors are Nebraska 4-H Certified Instructors. There are approximately 100,000 youth who participate annually in shooting sports programs in the U.S. There has never been an accident of any type in a Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports program.

Under the supervision of certified instructors, members will learn proper firearm and archery safety and shoot -

ing techniques. Competitions are available for those who are interested.

PCSS offers instruction in rifle (BB gun, air rifle and .22 rifle); archery (target and 3D), pistol (air and .22) and shotgun.

BB gun, air rifle and air pistol will meet on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. in the 4-H building at the Pierce County fairgrounds. Archery will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for new members and Tuesday, Oct. 29, for returning members at the Norfolk Archery Club indoor range (4th and Phillip) at 6:30 p.m. Please use the south door on Phillip Street.

All youth ages 8 to 18 as of Jan. 1, 2025, are welcome to come with an adult.

Please contact the following leaders if you have questions: Jen and Dave Thomsen, (402) 329-4504; Linda Latimer, (402) 329-4500; Gene Thomsen, (402) 582-3767; James Jones (402) 649-1962, or Jason Holan (402) 649-8410.
