PIERCE — The Republican Party of Pierce County met on Monday, Sept. 2, for its monthly meeting at the Pierce Library. Topics of discussion were the Remind app, slate cards, canvassing, the upcoming Candidate Forum and consideration of a handcounting training.
Chairman Bradley Lewon encouraged all of the members who do not currently receive texts via the Remind App to do so. He stressed that it is used fairly infrequently and is a good way to keep the members informed of meetings, events and cancellations.
The group then discussed a doorknocking campaign in the next few weeks to distribute slate cards. These cards consist of federal, state and local candidates the group has chosen to endorse based on how well they align with conservative values. Several in the group volunteered to canvas communities in Pierce County to distribute these cards and get out the vote for the upcoming election.
The upcoming Candidate Forum will host Jeanne Reigle at the Pierce Fire Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Robert Dover declined the invitation but it was decided the group would proceed with Mrs. Reigle.
Plans were also made to hold a hand-counting training set tentatively for Oct. 10 at the Pierce Library, led by Connie Reinke of the Nebraska Voter Accuracy Project.
The group's next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Pierce Library.
