OSMOND — Thirteen kindergarten students began their educational careers at Osmond Community School and St. Mary’s Catholic School — three at St. Mary’s and 10 at the public school. Instructors Amber Harrison and Rebecca Geneski provided the following information about their students.
Osmond Community School
(Amber Harrison, Osmond Community School) The kindergarten class of 202425 at Osmond Community Schools consists of 10 students — eight boys and two girls. We started the first day of kindergarten with play stations to work on sharing and teamwork.
Since then, the students have been learning the letter’s name while focusing on a letter a day. In math, the students are working with numbers 1-5 while drawing scenes, counting blocks, and doing basic addition.
The kindergarten class is focusing on being a KINDERgarten. In all aspects of the classroom, the students have discussed and given examples on how to be kind like how to be kind during centers, or how to be kind during instructional time.
All students are looking forward to learning new material for the rest of the kindergarten school year!

There are three enthusiastic students in the class, which allows for lots of one-on-one teaching time. These three students share the classroom with a larger pre-kindergarten class and a smaller preschool group.
Overall, the classroom is full of learning and sharing Jesus’s love. This school year, the kindergarten is introducing new instructional programs, including the Into Math Curriculum, the Bridge to Reading Curriculum, the Mystery Science Curriculum, and the Friendzy Religion lessons, which cover social, emotional, and character development.
In addition to these new activities, the kindergartners are also working on Lexia Phonics online personalized activities, the Wonders Language Arts Curriculum, the ABeka Social Studies program, and the Stories of God’s Love Catholic Curriculum.
They have all adopted a reading buddy pet toy and bring their pet to read with them during Daily 5 Literacy Centers. These students have gained a lot of knowledge, but they also look forward to fun activities such as snack time, recess, and Specials Time. The Specials the students attend this year are art, music, P.E.,
finance, and digital citizenship.
Above all, this sweet kindergarten class is full of love for others and brings so much of Christ’s joy to the St. Mary’s School family. Keep up the good work, Will, Megan, and Reagan!
