NIOBRARA - The Osmond cross country team competed in the Niobrara-Verdigre cross country invitational on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Niobrara State Park. The team ran very well as all the members earned medals and the team placed third in the meet.
The Tigers got out well at the start running in the lead pack. The group spread out and the Osmond runners maintained good positions.
Bloomfield-Wausa's Luke Wookman won the race in a time of 18:15.
Mason True was trailing a Creighton runner coming into the last 1,000 meters, but passed him and extended the distance to place fifth in a time of 20:11. Jack Berg was also trailing a runner from Creighton, but in the last 200 meters caught and outleaned the Bulldog for ninth place. Jack’s time was 21:28.
Donovan Heiman was close behind Jack and was closing on a Bloomfield- Wausa runner but couldn’t quite catch him. Donovan placed 12th in a time of 22:42.
In the junior high race, Osmond’s Trenton Wisely ran well and placed seventh. He covered the 1,600-meter distance in 5:53.
“The boys really ran well and com- peted," praised Coach Joe Ortmeier.
“You could see how determined they were and how they raced to the fin -
ish line."
