True medals at Hartington invitational

HARTINGTON – The 2024 season opener for the Osmond Tigers was the Hartington invitational on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Hartington golf course. The start time was 9 a.m. and made for a cool and comfortable run.

HARTINGTON — The 2024 season opener for the Osmond Tigers was the Hartington invitational on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Hartington golf course. The start time was 9 a.m. and made for a cool and comfortable run.

Sophomore Mason True finished in 12th place to earn a medal for the Tigers. He out-kicked Winnebago’s Rachman Free-Bass to the line. He covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 20:23.50. The race was won by Kellen Medina of Winnebago in a time of 18:50.72.

Jack Berg placed 23rd after he passed two runners on the way to the finish line. Jack’s time of 21:44.67. Donovan Heiman finished the race in 42nd place in a time of 25:24.78. Fifty-eight runners started the race.

In the junior high division, Trenton Wisely finished in 13th place in the field of 27 runners. He covered the 2,000-meter race in 11:19.95.

The boys’ varsity division was won by Homer with Hartington runner-up.

For the girls' division, Pender was first and Homer second.

"We ran very well for our first meet and the times were considerably bet ter than last year, understanding that it is a different course,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier.

The Tigers will run at the Niobrara State Park on Thursday for the Niobrara-Verdigre invitational starting at 4:30 p.m.
