Pick-a-Bouquet benefits woman's cancer battle

Wild Arrow Farms of Winnetoon hosted a special Pick a Bouquet Event recently for Jordan Kuhlman of Creighton, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

“About 100 bouquets were hand-picked on Sunday evening with all proceeds going to Jordan, her husband Michael and family” stated Rylee Wagner, owner and operator of Wild Arrow Farms.

Wild Arrow Farms is a full-service flower farm that offers different events.

Kuhlman and Wagner's husband are first cousins and Wagner said she couldn’t think of a better way to support family and honor the family legacy than to invite people out to share in the natural beauty of flowers and the family farm.

The flower farm is located on Kory Wagner and Kuhlman's grandparent’s farm west of Winnetoon on Highway 14.

Visitors also stopped to donate and enjoy the sweet treats provided.

Wild Arrow Farms is a new entrepreneur business. This is the first full flowering season for the approximately 3,000 blooms in the front yard of the family farm.

Wagner stated as with anything, “There is a learning curve and no pesticides or herbicides have been used but beneficial insects have been introduced to help combat common pests. '

Wild Arrow Farms has a website www. wildarrowfarmsne.com and Facebook page which should be used for any information about the business or questions about individualized events. Typically open on Fridays and Saturdays, individuals are encouraged to check these communication opportunities for time/ days opened before planning a trip.

This flowering farm’s mission is: ”As a cut flower farm our mission is to provide you with a one-of-a-kind-on-the-farm experience. This allows you to immerse in the beauty of our flowers and depart with a hand picked bouquet of your favorite flowers!'

Wagner said they have had a tremendous turnout over this summer with over 30 people stopping in each weekend. She also continued with the statement that “paying for the experience seems to be as popular as paying for the bouquet.”

She has partnered with local flower shops for the opportunity to supply them with fresh flowers.

This “budding business” began to as a creative outlet for Wagner's personal interest, and an opportunity to help the family farm financially.

Dollars and “scents” brought in are beneficially is inmany ways.

Wagner works full time from home as the communications director for the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska. Her husband farms with his brother and raises commercial cattle and sheep and show stock. They are parents to a young daughter with a baby expected in September.

Wild Arrow Farms has goals of expanding and eventually moving farther to the north.

'I have big dream for our little family flower farm, so we will see what the future holds for our flowers and customers,” Wagner said.
