Coaching the team this year will be Adrian Alonzo, Tanner Johnston and Tim Schindler of Wausa and Wyatt Schuettler and Bradley Wright of Osmond.
Coach Wright commented, “The 2024 Wausa-Osmond Vikings had 27 boys report to fall camp this year. The first year of a new program has come together strong to start off the year.
"With 27 student athletes on the team this year, we will have very good depth and be able to get good quality reps at practice for everyone in pads.
“First impression is that these young men have been playing together for years already which has made it easier to coach the game of football. The coaches have appreciated the hard work and dedication put forward so far by the team, having a 94% summer weights attendance.
"We're excited to see how the season plays out. The Vikings will face one of the toughest schedules in the always tough northeast Nebraska area.
“The majority of the opponents on the schedule this year were playoff teams last year, including defending D1 state champions Stanton playing host to the Vikings in week 2.”
The Vikings open against Wakefield at Wausa on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m.
