NORFOLK Osmond Ambulance has received a $15,000 grant toward
funding a new ambulance. The grant is provided through FCSAmerica's Working Here Fund.
The Working Here Fund grant will provide funds to assist in the purchase of a new ambulance for the local voluntary department.
“We have been fundraising for the past year!” said members of the Os- mond Ambulance crew. "Our squad has been very fortunate to have many generous donors. We couldn't have made it this far without them. The new squad will be equipped with 4 wheel drive and also have updated safety features for the responders in the back of the ambulance.”
Osmond Ambulance is one of nearly 200 organizations to receive a Working Here Fund grant in the second quarter of 2024. FCSAmerica awarded more than $1.5 million
during the latest grant cycle ending June 30, 2024.
“We are happy to support emergency responders who are dedicated to keeping our community members safe,” said Zach Gansebom, regional vice president of customer experi- ence in FCSAmerica's Norfolk office. The Osmond Ambulance squad also received a $10,000 grant from FCSAmerica last year for a total of $25,000 toward the new ambulance.
Fundraising Efforts
The Osmond Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) announced in May of 2023 that they would like to purchase a new ambulance unit. At that time, they received a $75,000 grant to help with the purchase.
The Osmond Rural Fire Board currently owns two ambulances: a 1999 unit and a 2012 unit. The new ambulance would replace the older unit, with the 2012 ambulance to be the backup unit.
In order to keep the grant money the EMTs received, a new ambulance had to be ordered by the end of 2023. After seeing several models, a new unit was ordered from Wheeled Coach with delivery expected in the spring of 2025.
With several grants, as well as fundraising efforts and local donations, the ambulance fund has now reached almost $260,000. There are a number of ways to donate, including memorial donations and donations of grain.
For more information about donating to the ambulance fund, contact Missy Hoppe, (402) 649-6414, or any Osmond Ambulance crew member.
