OSMOND — Osmond graduates Caydence Krienert and Anna Kahny recently traveled to Uganda on a mission trip with the organization Love Africa Mission. The two were there from June 3 to June 17, helping people in the Kyangwali Refugee Camp.
The girls shared the following thoughts about their trip: Hi, we’re Caydence and Anna. We recently served with Love Africa Mission for two weeks in the Kyangwali Refugee Camp!
Throughout our time in Uganda, our day-to-day schedule varied. Here are a couple of the things we did: Bible dedication to primary school, feeding of the cow for the kids, Bible studies, Bible devotions, clothing drive for the community, coloring activities, mosquito nets for secondary school.
Anna: Some of my favorite memories were the morning worship at the secondary school, group devotions, doing home visits and morning walks with the kids!
Caydence: My overall experience was incredible! Seeing the pure joy in these kids and being able to share the love of God was life-changing.A couple of my favorite things while in Uganda was attending their church service, playing with the community kids and sitting around the campfire while playing worship music. Anna and I also had the opportunity to sponsor kids while we were there.
We have always felt like the Lord has placed mission work on our hearts, so we were incredibly excited for the opportunity to go to Kyangwali this summer. Serving there was like nothing we had ever experienced or done before.
Getting to know the people, listening to their stories and experiencing their everyday life was indescribable. They are refugees and have experienced more hardship, grief and death than most of us can imagine.
Yet the pure joy and passion that radiates from them is incomparable. You go to serve, but come back changed. There is just something about seeing a community of people who have nothing live like they have everything.
Throughout the trip, we saw God work in countless ways. Not only could we tell that the Lord was KRIENERT, KAHNY WRITE ABOUT TRIP TO UGANDA working through each of us to reach the people in some way, but it was so evident that He had placed us there together to reach one another too.
We could not have asked for a better group of people to be there with. It was by no means easy, but it was without a doubt worth every second.
If you ever feel like you are called to sponsor a kid, you can visit the website CIYOTA. It is $300 per year to sponsor a primary student and $500 a year to sponsor a secondary student! This cost will cover their food expenses, housing and a uniform.
If you feel like the Lord might be pushing you toward mission work, we encourage you to go for it! Whether you want to serve locally or across the sea, there is not a place that does not need Jesus.
Remember, the Lord does not call the equipped, He equips the called.
