BLOOMFIELD – The annual Knox County Fair Cook-Off Contest was held on July 25 inside the 4-H Building at the fairgrounds in Bloomfield.
The 2024 edition of the event saw the following competitors: Center’s Jocelyn Hanefeldt and Crofton’s Ella Jessen, Grace Steffen, Morgan Stevens, Cecilia Wortmann and Meredith Wortmann.
In the Senior Division, Morgan Stevens received the Champion trophy.
In the Junior Division, the Champion trophy went to Ella Jessen. Also in the Junior Division, receiving purple ribbons were Cecilia Wortmann and Meredith Wortmann.
In the Novice Division, receiving the Champion trophy was Jocelyn Hanefeldt. Also in the Novice Division, receiving a purple ribbon was Grace Steffen.
The Cook-Off Contest, held every year before the county fair, is a fun way for 4-H members to get involved with cooking.
Each meal prepared must involve at least one pound of beef, pork or poultry per four servings.
This meal is prepared at home and brought to the contest as a complete dish ready to serve.
