CENTER – Candidates are still needed for the two seats up for election this year on the Wausa Village Board of Trustees.

The Knox County Clerk’s Office wants to remind non-incumbents interested in filing for the 2024 general election that the deadline is 5 p.m. Aug. 1 for the races of village boards across the county, the Cedar-Knox Public Power District Board of Directors, the North Central Public Power District Board of Directors and the Educational Service Units No. 1 and 8 boards of directors.

The county clerk’s office in Center and the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office in Lincoln will be open until 5 p.m. Aug. 1 for non-incumbents interested in filing for the general election, which is set for Nov. 5.

Incumbent Wausa village board members Cheryl Marks and Ron Nelson did not file by 5 p.m. July 15 to run for re-election to their positions.

As a reminder, no write-in votes will be counted unless a person has filed a write-in affidavit and is eligible for the particular race he or she is running for. The filing deadline for write-in candidates is 5 p.m. Oct. 25; again, write-in affidavits are required.

People are asked to call Knox County Clerk Joann Fischer at 402-288-5604 if they have any questions on the upcoming general election.
